How HBOT Works

More oxygen, right where the body needs it.

In a hyperbaric chamber, one breathes oxygen under increased atmospheric pressure. Similar to the carbonation process in a soda maker, more oxygen dissolves directly into the blood plasma. As a result, the bloodstream absorbs significantly more oxygen than during normal respiration, allowing it to reach tissues that are otherwise difficult to supply.

The Core

The difference lies in the pressure

The difference lies in the pressure

Under normal breathing conditions, red blood cells are already nearly fully saturated with oxygen, leaving little capacity to carry more. As pressure increases, additional oxygen dissolves directly into the blood plasma—the liquid component of the blood. It is precisely this dissolved oxygen that becomes additionally available to the body.

What Happens Inside the Chamber

01

Pressure is building

The pressure inside the chamber increases gradually, similar to descending underwater, while the user continues to breathe normally.

02

Oxygen dissolves in the plasma

Under increased pressure, blood plasma absorbs significantly more oxygen than is possible through normal breathing.

03

Improved tissue penetration

The dissolved oxygen is distributed via the blood plasma, reaching areas that are difficult to supply adequately through red blood cells alone.

Normobaric versus Hyperbaric Respiration

Normobaric versus Hyperbaric Respiration

Normal pressure

Almost everything is carried by the blood cells

The red blood cells are already almost fully loaded with oxygen. Only a little is dissolved in the plasma itself.

Increased pressure

The plasma also carries oxygen

Additional oxygen dissolves in the blood fluid. This reserve is available to your body on top of that.
